Spring Break-Part 1-Getting There

Friday, we took Erika out of school at lunch to head out to our California adventure for spring break!  Aunt Sarah went in to get Erika and when she got into the car, there was a surprise for all the kids.

Aunt Sarah bought special surprise gifts for the kids to open along way in the car.  She got some really neat gifts, including white boards, coloring books, calculators, flashlights, light-up wands, and gum.  The kids loved opening gifts along the way!

We stopped for a quick leg stretch break and played "don't let people step on your shadow" in the Burger King parking lot.

We drove to Ashland, OR the first night and stayed in a super nice hotel room.  The first thing we did after getting to our room was put on our swimming suits and head to the indoor pool.  The kids love pools so it was a very special treat for them to be able to swim!  After swimming for a while, we ordered pizza and ate it in our room.

The kids slept somewhat peacefully in the bed together.  Levi woke up a couple times crying and wondering where Aunt Sarah was.  And Laurel talks in her sleep.  But we got a few minutes of rest between that!

Aunt Sarah also showered the kids with gifts in the hotel....Sofia the First dolls for Laurel, Captain America figure and motorcycle for Levi, and beads for necklace making and a spy pen for Erika.

The next morning, the kids thought it was quite neat to eat in the hotel dining room.  They shoved as many pancakes and mini-muffins in their mouth as possible!

On Saturday, we drove the rest of the way to Uncle Jacob and Aunt Lisa's house in Livermore, CA.  We stopped in Red Bluff, CA for lunch and play time at a nearby park.

The kids did amazingly well in the car!  It helped to have the iPad with movies on it to entertain them, but we also listened to Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle book on CD which they really liked!  And all the toys helped keep them entertained along the way.
