Turkey Trot

On Saturday, the kids participated in a Turkey Trot at the high school in town.  Every grade level ran a set distance....Levi ran a half lap, Laurel ran one full lap, and Erika ran 1.5 laps.  There were not very many participants, but that way the kids got a better chance of winning.  And win they did!

Ready for racing

Levi raced with 6 other pre-K and kindergarteners.  He was very happy to be on the track and he diligently stayed in his line.  He got 5th place and had a lot of fun!!

Laurel raced with two other little girls.  She was determined to be the winner!

And she was!  After being in second place for about half the race, she turned on her jets and finished first!

And won a frozen turkey!!  She told us that it was a good thing she won so we could have turkey for Thanksgiving.  Laurel is quite proud to be the family provider.  She named the turkey Sparkle Bob.

Erika raced against her friend, Hayden.  She came in second place (of the two).  She had a great time, though, and was proud of herself for running the entire time!!

I am very proud of the kids for running the race and doing something that might not have been comfortable for them.  They are the greatest!!
