Laurel is 8!!

Our tiny baby girl is 8 years old today!  Laurel Ann is the definition of a girly-girl.  If it is pink, sparkly, fashionable, or has stars, it is loved by Laurel.  Laurel prefers to wear skirts rather than pants, leggings rather than jeans, and as many accessories as I will allow her.  She is super smart, fun to talk to, and analyzes her world and the information she receives.  My sweet girl has complete faith in the people who love her most....she trusts that her family will do what they say they will do without hesitation.  Laurel loves a rule and follows them as instructed.  It is difficult for her to sway one way or the other when it comes to bending rules; which is both a blessing and a curse to parent a child like that.  She sees things in black and white and struggles to find the "gray" that others around her are able to see.  Her insights and questions are extremely thoughtful and she doesn't say anything flippantly.  She really puts a lot of thinking behind every new piece of knowledge she acquires.  Laurel loves hamburgers, dogs, her family, chocolate, watching Disney XD, sleeping in, and riding her bike.  She does not like chicken pot pie, injustice to her or her friends, dusting, or vanilla ice cream.  She is a great actress and has a million different facial expressions and can do different voices!  Laurel is pretty even tempered, but when she is excited, she gets crazy excited and when she is upset, she gets very moody.  She tends to break down if she doesn't get enough sleep and unfortunately as she gets older, she gets much more difficult to break out of her funk.  We struggled at the beginning of the school year with her throwing terrible fits when asked to do something she didn't want to do because she was overly tired.  She has done a really great job learning to control her anger and just taking some time by herself if that is what is needed.  Laurel is a great friend and draws people to her because of her quiet demeanor and wide, accepting smile.  She is a friend for life once she gets close to a person.  We are so incredibly blessed with our beautiful Laurel Ann and pray that God continues to bless her in her life to be the woman He wants her to be!  Happy birthday and we love  you so much, Laurelie-Loo!
