Erika loves babies. She loves to say "baby", she loves to point out babies, she loves to look at pictures of babies. And now she absolutely loves her baby dolls! At church, in the nursery they have a baby doll stroller which Erika runs to every time she goes in there. So, after going to the pumpkin patch on Saturday, Matt and I stopped at Target and bought her a doll stroller for her "babies". Every since Saturday, she has not stopped pushing the stroller around the house. She makes sure her dolls are sitting up properly before she starts pushing them. Sometimes, she covers the doll with a blanket. Other times, she takes her juice cup and "feeds" the baby (with accompanying sucking sounds!) I love watching her take care of her babies! One thing we are working on is that if the stroller ever gets stuck on a wall or a piece of furniture, she gets very frustrated and starts banging the stroller on the ground. That's not good for her baby, I'm sure! I guess you are never too early to learn about patience!

On a totally separate topic, Erika has lately been hitting when she doesn't get her way....especially hitting me when I pick her up to change her diaper. It doesn't really make sense to slap her hand for hitting, that seems backwards. To all my experienced mommy friends, how did you deal with hitting?

She's looking so cute! She'll be ready for a baby brother/sister in no time! And I'm pretty impressed with the new 'do! Very stylish!
What a nurturer! These pictures are adorable! (Thumbs up on the dress, Aunt Sarah!)
Hey April! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog awhile back so I could connect with you on your blog. It's taken me far too long to check it out and catch up with what has been going on with you. I hope you and Matt have gotten all settled in Oregon. Erika sounds just like Kerensa with her love of babies. It's gotten cold now, but having a baby stroller for her to push really helped Ryan and I take evening walks with Kerensa actually walked instead of dawdled. As for hitting, we try to just use a real firm voice and take her hand and tell her not to do it. If she persists, she has to go to time out. Do you have a naughty bench/chair? That works pretty well for Kerensa, and it has pretty amazing powers. As in, she will stop whatever she's doing if we tell her she will have to go to time out. Wish it worked to get her to stay in bed at night . . . :)
I just found another reason to love blogs--to keep in touch when friends move away. It looks like your family is doing well. And Erika with her stroller is so cute. I hope Julianna is a baby doll kind of girl and not turned into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle kind of girl by her brothers.
