31-year-old birthday parties aren't as picture worthy as a 3- or 4-year-old's, so please just enjoy this adorable picture of Levi and his cousin, Judah. They were two of the party guests.....and they are cute!
I had a great birthday! Matt and I took our kids to the Oregon Zoo. We met Matt's parents, his two sisters, and their kids there. It was fun to walk around the zoo and look at the animals, especially since the weather cooperated with us! After a day at the zoo, everyone came back to our house and my in-laws stayed home with our 3 kids while Matt and I went out to dinner and a movie. Going to a theater is a rarity (it had been 2.5 years since our last outing) and it was a lot of fun! The best part, however, was that I didn't have to brush anyone's teeth or put them to bed, or put anyone's binkie back in their mouth 10 times. I am so grateful to my mother- and father-in-law for taking over those responsibilities for the night. Especially since I know just how loud Levi can scream when he doesn't want to go to sleep......a wonder his grandparents were able to experience. Anyway, it was a really fun birthday and a wonderful date night with my husband! Now, for the not-so-smart part of my birthday. Have you ever seen those commercials about search engine overloading when people start randomly shouting out facts? I kind of had that experience. Last week, I was looking online for an Italian restaurant to go to for dinner on my birthday. I Google searched "Italian restaurant lafayette".....Lafayette being the name of a small town just south of us, and in between our town and the town where the movie theater is that we were planning on going to. I found one where the menu looked good, so I emailed the menu link to Matt and we decided we'd give it a try. On Friday night, we couldn't find the restaurant! Now, side note, Lafayette is about 3 or 4 blocks long on the main highway that links all the little towns around us. So, it's not like we were searching NYC for this restaurant....we should have been able to find it. Jokingly, Matt said, "Are you sure it was in Oregon?" To which I responded, "You made the reservations.....wasn't it a 503 (Oregon) area code that you called?" He then told me that he didn't call to make the reservations, he made them online. Anyway, after driving through Lafayette twice, we found a different Italian restaurant, ate there, had delicious food, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. On Saturday morning, Matt looked at the website of the restaurant we thought we were going to eat at and discovered it was located in Lafayette, Indiana. Lesson learned.....always check the address of a location before making reservations and going to search for it.

That is HILARIOUS! Just for reference, there is a Lafayette, Georgia, and a Lafayette, Louisiana, too!
Happy Birthday (late)--I hope it was wonderful, even though you didn't make it to Indiana. ;)
