Oregon State Fair

I love the fair! Even though the food is overpriced and the animals stink, it is so much fun. We met Matt's parents at the Oregon State Fair today and had such a great time. This was Erika's third annual fair and Laurel's first. Although Laurel spent the majority of the time riding on Daddy's back, I think she enjoyed it. Erika, however, had some issues with some of the larger animals, even more so than last year! Here is a list of things we learned at the fair:

-Erika apparently doesn't like pigs, cows, horses or sheep. She would not go near them, and whined and cried the entire way through the livestock barn. The only thing she liked was a baby cow that was born the day before. It was pretty small. However, on the way home from the fair, she happily pointed out the cows in the field and asked to see some horses.
-Erika doesn't like the little golf carts that come around to pick up the trash. Nor does she like the tractor exhibits, even though they are sitting perfectly still and not making any noise. Pink tractors, however, are okay.
-A two-year-old very recently potty-trained girl can make people jump when she claims she has to go poo-poo. Even after three times of false alarms.
-Mommy doesn't like bathrooms at the fair.
-Smokey the Bear is less scary in theory than he is in real life. But a Smokey the Bear mask is the coolest!

-A corn-kernel-box is way better than a sandbox! And a candy-corn-box would be even better.

-Mommy doesn't always dress the girls with her eyes open....Laurel's dress was on backwards all day.
-Both girls indeed take after their mother...they are excellent dancers!

I must protest! Those Smokey the Bear masks are the scariest thing I've seen all day! Quite unnerving!!
