Lucky Mom

How did I get so lucky to have such beautiful, funny, adorable daughters?

Contemplating...something.

Busy Week

We had a busy week! Laurel and I had a baby shower at the church this afternoon. We had a great time with the ladies from the church and received many wonderful gifts for Laurel...and some for Erika as well!
What a wonderful church family we are blessed to be a part of! Matt and I have been very fortunate to find loving church families in every town we have lived in (Pullman, Woodinville, Coeur d'Alene, and Newberg). God is so good to provide us with friends and family who love us everywhere we live. Thank God for His blessings!

Taking home the goodies!

Yum...cake!

The new house also got a big face lift this morning with new carpet! We love it! With new paint and carpet, the house looks completely different from the day we signed the papers for it. We move in this weekend. Please continue to pray that our house in CdA sells and that our move goes well.

For our friends in Coeur d'Alene, we are coming for a visit in March! We will be there March 13, 14, and 15. So mark your calendars! We are very excited to see everyone and for you to meet Laurel!

Twins?

Is it possible to give birth to twins twenty months apart? You be the judge.

Two Weeks

Laurel went in for her two week check-up today and is healthy and developing well. She now weighs a hearty 8 pounds, 9 ounces and has grown 2 inches to 21 inches. She is becoming more alert and her eyes are more round and less slit-like, which I love! She is sleeping for 4 hour stretches at night and only gets up to eat twice. What a good girl!
It is fun to watch her and Erika together. Whenever Erika is around when Laurel is awake, Laurel will try and find her sister. It's usually not too difficult since Erika is quite loud. Laurel just follows the noise with her eyes....very fun to be their mommy!

Progress

This past week, while my mom was here to help with Erika and Laurel, Matt was able to make huge progress on the new house! After cleaning every wall in the house, he primed them and then painted the main living area, hallway, and the three bedrooms. It looks like a completely different house...one that someone actually cares about now. This week/weekend, he plans on cleaning and priming the kitchen and bathroom. Once those two rooms are finished, the house will look even better! We ordered carpet this past week and it should arrive in two weeks. I'm very excited to move our family into a brand new, beautiful home!

The guest/play room. A nice sunny yellow.

Erika standing in her and her sister's room. The color is "bagel" and is a very very pale yellow.

The master bedroom is "sea mist", a beautiful light blue. It's my favorite color in the house!

We painted one accent wall in the living area "toasted chestnut". The rest of the walls are a very light earth tone called "Euro linen".

And, here are some pictures of the girls.
Erika has been very good at sharing her toys with Laurel. She doesn't quite understand why Laurel won't hold her baby dolls like she does, though! I think she wants a playmate right away instead of in several months!

Erika is also confused why Laurel doesn't want to suck on "B" (binky/pacifier) all the time like she does. She is constantly giving me Laurel's "B" or trying to shove it in Laurel's mouth herself.

My favorite new Erika anecdote: Every time Laurel cries, Erika comes running up to me saying, "cry, cry". Like I can't hear that my tiny little daughter is letting out an ear-splitting scream. Thanks Erika!

A Night of Firsts

Tonight, both Erika and Laurel had a first.

Laurel had her first bath.

Obviously, she didn't like it.

And, Erika had her first haircut. Actually, just a bang "trim", but as you can see, Mommy is not that good at it. At least we won't have to cut them again for a while. And, they are straight!

New Baby!

Ok, so the Spicy Chicken Crunchwrap Supreme did not do its thing right away.

Laurel Ann Hammar was born on January 4, 2009 at 3:23 a.m, weighing in at 8 pounds, 0 ounces and is 19 inches long. She seems tiny to us after having giant baby Erika! She was the first baby born at Providence Newberg Hospital, which was kind of cool...especially since we got a free goodie basket for it!

We are very excited about our new little one! And, Erika loves her already!
