Caution: Picture heavy post
I couldn't sleep the night before our first trip into Disneyland....I was so excited to see the kids reaction to the happiest place on earth! And they did not disappoint!
Hammar family ready to take on Disneyland! I cautioned the kids before we left the house that I would be stopping quite often to take their pictures. And I did and they did great with obliging me!
The first character we saw upon entering the park was Goofy. I was very impressed with the amount of characters we saw this trip.....there was always someone exciting to see strolling through Disneyland!
Levi was even wearing his Goofy shirt to meet the big guy! The kids came prepared with autograph books, which were full (save for one page) when we left the last day.
The first ride we went on was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.....one of my top three rides. The line was surprisingly short! Laurel and Levi had a great time....Erika was afraid of the bats that jump out a bit during the ride. She loved the roller coaster part of the rides, but was very nervous about the things that pop out while riding.
We spent the majority of the first morning in Fantasyland just because it was pretty crowded and there are so many small rides! But the kids loved it because they could recognize a lot of the characters during the rides. Erika was still a little shaken from the bats and while standing in line for Snow White's ride, it broke down and that put her over the edge. I think she was nervous about getting trapped inside the ride and having things scare her. So she and Grandma took a little break while the rest of us rode the rides. She did join us for Dumbo, the carousel, the circus train ride, and the teacups...with her dad and grandma, I don't do spinning rides. I talked her into trying Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and would tell her when something might be scary. After that, she did pretty well and rode all the rides. Sometimes with her eyes closed, but she didn't miss out on the experience!
We made a quick stop in the Mad Hatter's shop for new hats/ears for the rest of the trip.
We split the day into two and went home for lunch and a rest. Grown-ups were tired. Kids wanted to go swimming. But we just stuck to a rest and then came back to the park in time for a Frozen performance and sing-along.
And then spent quite a bit of time in Toontown.
And Mickey was home! The kids were pretty excited to see him in his house.
After leaving for the evening, we went swimming in the pool at our condo rental and then called it a night. We had to get ready for Disney California Adventure the next day!
