We had our annual Valentine's Day dates with the kids this weekend. They are always so excited when they get a special night out! Levi chose to go to Burger King with me on his date and the girls decided on J's Restaurant with Matt. On Valentine's Day morning, they woke up to find balloons, hearts, chocolates, and earrings for the girls and a Star Wars clock for Levi. It was a perfect holiday!

This and That
Erika participated in a reading event at school called Battle of the Books. She was on a team of four who were responsible for reading 16 books (4 per girl) and then they were quizzed on the books. She started reading this summer as soon as the list came out (state wide reading program) in our public library. She read through 6 of the 16 books. She was on a team with three 4th grade girls and did very well for her first year! The team practiced during lunch times and then had a mock battle the weekend before the actual battles started. Unfortunately, her team was knocked out in the first round, but I am so so proud of her and she is excited to try again next year!
Some days, this is outside my bedroom door when I wake up.
Erika had a family fitness night at school. She and I went and got to try out a bunch of equipment that their PE class has. Her favorite was the rope climb and I enjoyed this balance board that was a lot trickier than it looked!
I helped with Laurel's Valentine's Day party in her class so Levi got to come celebrate with her. Ice cream sundaes, popcorn, and games. Fun 1st grade party!

Celebrating 40
We spent a weekend of tubing to celebrate Matt's 40th birthday! First, we took the girls out of school on Friday to go to Wings and Waves water park. It was so much fun and a lot less crowded than when we went on a weekend. The kids could have played in the water all day, but us old folks got tired.
The next day, we drove up to Mt. Hood for the night. We scoped out the sledding hill, ate dinner in Government Camp, and the kids were excited to stay in a hotel room. Sunday morning, we went to the hill to do some tubing. We all had such a blast! Those icy hills were super fast and a little bumpy and I'm surprised in stayed on my tube for a few of the runs! The kids were elated to be in the snow. After a few hours of fun, we headed home just in time for the Super Bowl. It was a perfect weekend to celebrate our favorite guy!
This picture. Bless her. She didn't want to blink.
