I took Laurel's one-year-old pictures on Friday. I was only one month behind on getting her pictures done exactly when she was one. With Erika, we did her one-year pictures at 14 months, so I'm getting closer!
I have chosen to do pictures at home with my trusty digital camera. First, I don't want to spend a bunch of money on pictures where the girls obviously don't want their pictures made. Turns out our girls can be pretty strong-willed. Who knew? Here are the results.
Only about 4 pictures before she decided she didn't want to stand still.
And then she left.
So I brought in Erika, who brought her babies to the photo shoot.
Erika had a good cry when I told her I didn't want to take a picture with her babies.
I told them to start clapping which kept their attention for about 15 seconds.
But then we got tired.
And then we were done.By the end of the 15 minute session, I was sweating, the girls were wound up, but I got a few good shots that can now be blown up and proudly displayed on the wall. My favorite picture is the last one because it is a pretty accurate display of the relationship between the two girls. Erika is not being mean by pulling her sister's clothes.....I told her to make sure Laurel stayed standing beside her. She was just trying to obey me! But, as you can see, Laurel lets us know when she doesn't want to do what we want her to do.

I think photographing kids is a two person process. One person to photograph, and one person to wrangle/entertain kiddos. And maybe another person to mix the post-picture party cocktails. :) Whew!
This looks exactly like one of our photo shoots! Sometimes I like the not-so-perfect pictures the best!
Your girls are so precious...we miss you guys!
